President Joe Biden’s Covid-19 Response Team holds a press conference Wednesday on the coronavirus pandemic that infected more than 28 million Americans and killed at least 502,681 people in just over a year.
Earlier Wednesday, Food and Drug Administration staff approved Johnson & Johnson’s emergency Covid-19 vaccine. This is a crucial step in getting a third shot into the US. The report is due for an FDA advisory panel meeting on Friday and could give the go-ahead for a third US vaccine by the end of the week.
J&J has signed a contract with the federal government to supply 100 million doses of its vaccine by the end of June. J & J’s vice president of medical affairs, Dr. Richard Nettles said that if the company is approved for use in the US, it plans to ship more than 20 million cans to the US by the end of March.
