If you’ve ever left your online store after seeing how much your shopping cart is worth, then this one is for you.
A money saving expert recently shared an interesting hack that could help you get on with your shopping while getting a discount at the same time.
In the current newsletter from Money Saving Expert, Jenny Keefe explains that online shoppers could save up to 50% if they simply gave up their shop.
Jenny writes, “Don’t finish your online ordering and companies often send you codes to lure you back. There are no guarantees and some get wise, but if you’re in no hurry why not try?”
It turns out that some retailers lure their customers back by sometimes sending out coupon codes to get them to come back and make a sale.
The savvy hack involves logging into your chosen retailer or opening an account, filling your shopping cart with the items you want, leaving the website, and then double-checking that the same retailer sent you a coupon code to lure you back.
Of course, not all merchants are known to send out coupon codes and it can be a bit of a godsend, but there have been some successes.
Some lucky shoppers tweeted Martin Lewis, founder of Money Saving Expert, with their own success stories of this simple shopping hack.
A user named Charlie tweeted, “I browsed Asos’ wedding dresses yesterday and added one to my cart, then left for the night. I got a nice surprise email from Asos this morning with a 20% discount because they noticed me had some window shopping. 37 € off my wedding dress! “
Another tweeted: “@MartinSLewis had things in the H&M basket – not bought, got a 20% discount. Saved over £ 8. ”
