COMMERCE, Calif. (KABC) – Citadel Outlets opened for Black Friday shopping on Thanksgiving, the first time since the pandemic started that they opened early for the Christmas tradition.
“We hope that we get back to some sort of return normalcy, that we have a lot and that people are happy to be back,” said outlet manager David Blagg.
According to Blagg, outlets didn’t open early for Black Friday shopping in 2020 – which usually happens on Thanksgiving night.
This year they opened the property’s gates at 4:00 p.m. to let buyers in, but stores will open at 8:00 p.m.
Given the recent flash mob thefts across California, Blagg said they’re taking a different approach to security this year.
“We have introduced some new security measures,” said Blagg. “Let’s just say that within a minute or two of an alarm sounding, we have to close the centers as far as the access goes in or out,” said Blagg.
