PHOENIX (AP) – Civil rights activists, including the Revs. Jesse Jackson and William Barber were among 39 people arrested Monday after refusing to leave the Phoenix office of Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema.
Jackson, one of the country’s most prominent civil rights activists, said the US was in a “civilization crisis” in which “lines of battle had been drawn,” and urged activists to fight nonviolently for their rights.
